Educational Tour Reviews

A Webb, Crescent School, NorthantsRobin Hood Sherwood Forest Adventure

"In terms of quality I was delighted with your provision and the balance of storytelling, songs, action, message and forest education. Yourself and the others were appropriate in your delivery to the children and I have to say Friar Tuck was great. He went out of his way to chat to the children as we walked along sharing lots of knowledge and banter. They haven't stopped talking about him!!

In terms of highlights for the children they were thrilled to 'talk to Robin Hood', 'listen to Little John's rhyming story', 'wake up sleepy, snoring Friar Tuck', 'watch the sword fight', 'people dressed up as outlaws' and 'seeing the Major Oak'.

A parent has emailed to say she hasn't stopped hearing about Robin Hood!!"

"We really enjoyed the day and it brought our school work to life for the children:
- Children loved meeting the characters and were extremely excited by it all.
- The ballads gave them better historical understanding of the entertainment available to people of those times.
- Lots of points and reinforcement about how people used the forest. Each talk kept questioning what they had already learnt to try and help them remember.
- Great costumes.
- Telling the children how important learning was and the phrasing about imagination inspired them."

"Our experience with Ade and his team at the Robin Hood day was amazing. The children were enthralled by the characters and completely taken in by their costumes, words and acting. We were thrilled with Ade and his team’s ability to take the children's into the lives of Robin Hood and his Merry Men walking them through Sherwood forest, telling tales and singing to them. The children were eager to be involved and asked many questions of the characters."

"What we appreciated most about working with Ade and his team was their ability to work alongside the children at their level, keeping everyone happy, and delivering the expected results and then some."

J Brown, Towcester Primary School, TowcesterRobin Hood Sherwood Forest Adventure

"We had a brilliant day! I thought that your tour offered a wealth of variety; singing, fighting, demonstrations, poetry recital and information about Robin Hood and the forest in which he lived. It really brought the legend and location to life. We liked the camaraderie between the characters and the children loved the experience of the adventure."

"I would thoroughly recommend this visit to any school or group wanting to learn more about Robin or his life in Sherwood Forest. The experience brought the legend to life and helped the children to understand how the natural world and simple, but powerful, values can have such a significant impact on the life and world we live in today."

Quotes from the children include:
‘I enjoyed the whole tour and the sword fight was the best!’
‘I enjoyed the songs that Marion sang.’
‘The sword fight at the end was cool!’
‘It was great to hide in the hollow tree where we met Little John.’
‘I enjoyed seeing the very old trees and learning about living in the woods.’
‘I really enjoyed learning about Robin Hood’s bow and archery.’
‘The visit really brought the story to life for me.’

"Thank you again for helping to make the visit for our German visitors such a great success and for your help and useful communication throughout."

"Meeting Robin Hood in the forest was spellbinding for the children. He took them back in time and was really authentic! He answered all of the children’s questions and they were mesmerised by him. Thank you, we loved the experience and would love to come back next year and meet the other characters."

C Lee, Blessed Robert Primary School, Widmerpool.City Mysteries Tour

"Children and adults were inspired by the fascinating and fun facts about their local environment, all shared in an interactive way by Robin Hood.  We would give the tour five stars! Robin Hood hooked us with every word with his energy and portrayal of the character."

K Hutchinson – Lady Bay Pri Sch, Notts.City Literature & Legends Tour

"Ezekial Bone as Robin Hood was perfect for our topic about Nottingham to give us insight into the city’s history. Engaging, captivating and professional, Ezekial Bone ensured everyone (both young and old!) learned something new. The children thoroughly enjoyed the tour and they all came back to the classroom with lots of enthusiasm and full of facts to share with the rest of the school."

L Hodder – Heritage Lottery Project MentorSt Mary's Church, Nottm

"...a pleasure to work with from the initial planning and idea sharing at the start of our project at St Mary's Church through to the actual Schools Event that we held for 150 pupils from local city schools. Ade has a wealth of knowledge about the story of Robin Hood and the history of early Nottingham which he was able to convey in an engaging way to the children in the group sessions he facilitated and also through the dramatic performance of a medieval ballad that he created and then performed as the finale to our event. We have really appreciated his professional and enthusiastic approach in everything he has done."
